ABOUT

Alexandre Makiolke, artistically known as Bisner, is a Luso-Brazilian urban artist based in Lisbon.

Since 2011, he has been developing large-format collages as part of his urban art project, exploring various techniques such as printmaking, screen printing, stencil, spray paint, and collage. Bisner incorporates materials like labels and packaging, blending basic forms and vibrant colors to create visually striking works.

The universe of pop culture and urban art come together in compositions that transcend the traditional medium. His collages evolve into interactive sculptures that defy aesthetic conventions, creating a unique and engaging experience for the public.

His career includes notable features in projects and publications such as Plastik Comb Magazine Issue#1 (USA, 2020), the book COOLLAGE – A Closer Look (Netherlands, 2022), and the Holiday Horizons advertising campaign for Coca-Cola + Delta Airlines (USA, 2021). His works have also appeared on the covers of Brazilian magazines like ÉpocaGlobo Rural, and Auto Esporte.

Bisner draws his inspiration from memory and the past. He revisits fragments of a childhood lived in the 1980s—old family photos, classic comic book characters, cartoons, and other cultural references—to create collages that reflect his experiences and reinterpret the world around him.

For Bisner, art is an invitation to escape the obvious and delve into the absurd. He believes that the artist’s role is to challenge conventional thinking, pointing to alternative paths that connect layers of parallel realities. In his works, catharsis and chaos converge, revealing multiple interpretations and fostering a dialogue between the collective unconscious and the individual.
